I Can't Hear Speaker Rear In 5.1

except having to buy a new sound card or using some other vendors sound drivers. but still thanx ... If not, that could be part of the problem. but did not work obviously , well I think its just that the same hardware and software works fine when it is XP but the sound drivers for the windows vista

The setting was on 5.1 I also went into manual set speakers and turned it up to +10 which is the highest it could go. I had to do a two day back recovery due to the Audacity multitracking business causing my PC to crash when I tried to to demo larger file songs. So you have a 7.1 receiver but are using it as 5.1? Really, it sounds like you need to read the manual for your receiver to get the most out of it.

This fixed mine, can't believe I didn't try moving to the other green jack but thanks. I have updated my sound card with latest drivers and still doesnt work..if you have any suggestion..they are most welcome. Are you new to the Home Theater Forum? If you play 5.1 channel audio through the speakers, they all play normally - which makes sense because the "fill" option isn't needed in this case. Amazingly though, sometimes after putting the system in hibernate mode and coming back, the audio worked. Thank you for the suggestion and the advise! Every other speaker works in its correct spot during test.
